BARNARD, SYLVIA
AUTHOR

The child of immigrants, Sylvia Barnard grew up in a small mining community north of Lake Superior. After a forty year career as a classroom teacher, school principal, superintendent of schools, and the President of Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, Sylvia has rekindled her love of story-telling. In 2021 she published Rhubarb, Strawberries, and Willows, a historical fiction novel set on the Spanish River in Northern Ontario. Her second novel, A Hyphenated Life, will be released summer 2024. Her short stories have been published in online magazines and provincial anthology collections.

Sylvia Barnard lives with her husband and two dogs under a canopy of maples near Penetanguishene, Ontario, where she enjoys snowshoeing, hiking, kayaking, knitting and creating stained glass art when she isn’t writing.
