The writers of Haliburton County are plentiful. Storytelling has long been part of the culture here. So it is with great enthusiasm that the Literacy Round Table (Arts Council ~ Haliburton Highlands) is participating in the February Folk Festival.
The event is called Verse in Harmony, an experimental marriage of music and poetry. Three local musicians (Greg Shantz, Scott Duggan, Marcia Mandel) and three local poets (Lea Harper, Catherine Graham, Janet Trull) will perform at Castle Antiques on Tuesday, February 24. The event is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted.
Starting at noon, we will gather by the stage for conversations about writing and future creative opportunities for the Literary Arts. If you’d like to have lunch or coffee and sweets, patronize the Castle Café or Poquito Loco.
From 1pm to 2pm, the poets and musicians will perform in pairs.…
