About the event
Aging Together As Community (ATAC) has some exciting news and upcoming events to inform our community about.
The County of Haliburton has received a $25,000 grant in partnership with ATAC from the Seniors Community Grant, entitled Bridging the Gaps. It is funded by the Government of Ontario and will run until the end of March 2025. We are fortunate to have hired two new contract workers, who are joining our team: Connie Wood, as Event Coordinator and Eric Lilius as Sound and Tech Coordinator.
The goals of the funding are a perfect fit for Haliburton County:
- Provide opportunities for older adults to stay active and connected in their communities
- Reduce social isolation by increasing access to programs and services, including developing technology and digital solutions to support seniors’ social engagement
- Increase access to information and supports for health prevention and promotion including intergenerational activities that help build relationships that improve mental and physical well-being
So to kick off our successful funding we have planned an outdoor, musical, event, The Beat Goes On, at The West Guilford Recreation Centre on September 14, 2-6 pm. It will also be on Zoom. Please reply if you would like the link. Weather permitting we will be outside but if not it we will move indoors. We have an eclectic and talented line-up of local musicians and groups that we are confirming, to help us all participate and have fun. Stay tuned for more information on our fb page! All ages are welcome. There is a delicious complimentary dinner catered by Molly's Market Bakery at 4:30 pm. We do need you to reserve by Monday September 9, by using the QR code on the attached poster or email Connie at constancewood@gmail.com. Space is limited, so please register early.
We look forward to seeing you on September 14. Remember the Beat Goes On, but not without YOU!
