In August this year (August 22-31), Dance Happens Here Haliburton (DH³) and the Haliburton Sculpture Forest will be welcoming dancer/choreographer Mairéad Filgate and singer, songwriter, harpist Shannon Kingsbury as artists in residence at the Haliburton Sculpture Forest for 10 days of collaboration, experimentation, dance, music and presentation.
An immersive sensory journey through the Haliburton Sculpture Forest. Creators Shannon Kingsbury and Mairéad Filgate, along with a number of local artists, bring the Haliburton Sculpture Forest alive in celebration of its 25th Anniversary. Featuring original songs, choreography, visual art, and sound collage built from community voices, this site-responsive performance guides audiences on a journey through a series of vignettes inspired by the sculptures — reflecting on the layering of memory, belonging, creative lineage, and our deep relationship with the natural world.
They will be working with local artists in a variety of ways including music composition, sound art, visual art, dance, song, poetry…
