About the event
We are thrilled to announce the opening reception of "M(y)otherwork," a compelling exhibition by the talented figurative painter Corynn Kokolakis. Join us on Saturday, July 6, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for to meet the artist and gain insight into her creative process. Corynn will also give a short talk at 2:30 PM followed by Q & A.
"M(y)otherwork" is a series of paintings that seek to show the maintenance and emotional labor involved in mothering. Kokolakis' skilled compositions and vigorous brushwork deftly place the viewer in the Mama Bear's chair, and it's looking down from that vantage point that the nuances of caregiving and identity, are revealed, as if through a mother's gaze.
Corynn's connection to the Haliburton Highlands runs deep, having formed lasting memories through cottaging, paddling, and camping in the area over the years. We are delighted to welcome her back to the community where her journey as an artist began, first as an exhibitor at the Haliburton Art and Craft Festival.
Having recently completed her Master's Degree in Fine Arts at York University last year, Corynn is just back from a three-week residency in the United States, further honing her craft and vision. Be among the first to glimpse her newest work!
Don't miss this exclusive opportunity to engage with Corynn Kokolakis and explore her thought-provoking exhibition. "M(y)otherwork" is a must-see for art enthusiasts and anyone interested in the profound and often unspoken aspects of being a "good mom".
