About the event
Film Screening: Rosies of the North
Discover the untold story of the women who built Canada’s fighter planes during World War II. This National Film Board documentary highlights the “Rosies” of Fort William’s Canadian Car and Foundry—mothers, daughters, and factory workers who stepped into essential roles on the home front.
They raised children, baked cakes—and built fighter planes. From 1939 to 1945, thousands of women from Thunder Bay and the Prairies joined the industrial war effort, transforming Fort William’s Canadian Car and Foundry into a workforce that was 40% female.
Join us for an inspiring look at courage, skill, and the power of women’s work in shaping history.
No registration required. The film is provided courtesy of the National Film Board (NFB) in collaboration with the Minden Hills Cultural Centre. Film will be screened in the Welch Room.
