About the event

Dementia Widow sees the light of day!

Fay Martin’s first and so-far only published book is launching at Rail’s End Gallery on Friday, March 7, 2026, from 3 – 5 p.m. The public is enthusiastically invited to attend. Dementia Widow: a Memoir about Love, Death and Survival (Iguana Books) is a small book with a big message. It describes Fay’s journey of caring for her husband, Michael Fay, as he slipped into dementia.

The journey, by Fay’s reckoning, was 25 years long. It started with a (stoutly denied) genetic predisposition, tipped into action by a go-round with cancer, tearing what had been a good marriage apart until it was named and claimed, enjoying a decade or so of domestic harmony (of the caregiving rather than spousal variety) and community contribution, and then terminating in Michael’s quick decline and death, with but not of dementia.

Fay also talks about the first…
