21^st Century Follies

Francisco de Goya (1746 – 1828)

Goya was one of the most important European artists of his time.

He was deeply concerned by war, poverty and corruption in late 18^th century Spain.

Goya’s final etchings, The Follies, produced at the age of 70, are a haunting and atmospheric series depicting the folly of mankind.

My pieces were created as observations of our new and continuing follies. The composition of my title piece ‘21^st Century Folly’ is a derivative of Goya’s ‘Ridiculous Folly.’
